A weak trough will move over the east coast later today, clearing the South Queensland Waters overnight. A firm ridge will extend over the southern waters by Thursday and persist for several days, as a strong high moves east across southern Australia. Moderate to fresh westerly winds will develops across the far southeastern waters this evening in the wake of the trough, easing and turning southeasterly during Thursday.
