Weather Situation
A surge of southwesterly winds is crossing the southern Queensland waters during today, due to the combination of a trough moving off the New South Wales coast and a strengthening ridge from a large high [1037 hPa] passing to the south of Western Australia. The ridge will remain in place over coming days, with winds turning southerly on Friday as the high slowly moves eastwards.
