A southeasterly surge is forecast to move up the central and northern Queensland coast, reaching the Townsville and Cairns waters during today before stalling for the next several days. Monsoonal northwesterly winds are forecast about Torres Strait, feeding into a monsoon trough over the northwest of the state.
