A weak trough extends across the Mackay waters, with northwesterly winds to the north of the trough and southeasterly winds to the south. The trough will begin to shift north today in response to a ridge of high pressure strengthening along the coast. The ridge will strengthen further throughout the week as a high begins to move east across the Tasman Sea.
