A weak ridge extends over the north Queensland waters. The ridge will persist over the next few days as a high [1021 hPa] in The Bight moves quickly east across southern Australia and into the Tasman Sea on Monday. A trough may start to move northward over the North Queensland Waters south of Cairns from Thursday or Friday, and weaken the ridge.
