- Weather Situation
- The monsoon trough lies across the northern Coral Sea. Tropical Low 12U [996 hPa] has developed along has along the trough east of Cooktown, and is forecast to move southwest and cross the northeast Queensland coast early Sunday as a category 1 tropical cyclone. A squeeze between 12U and a ridge of high pressure from a high [1022 hPa] over the Tasman Sea will lead to vigorous southeasterly winds south of the trough over the next several days. Meanwhile, a vigorous northwesterly monsoon flow will persist across Torres Strait during the next few days.
