A firm ridge of high pressure extends over the South Queensland waters from a high pressure system over southeast Australia. The ridge will slacken from Friday as the high pressure system drifts slowly northeast and gradually weakens over the next few days, reaching southern Queensland on Sunday morning and then the southern Coral Sea on Sunday afternoon.
