A low [998 hPa] in the Tasman Sea will weaken into a trough as it moves eastwards. A ridge extends over the south Queensland waters in its wake from a high [1025 hPa] over the Great Australia Bight. This high will move eastwards across southern Australia over the next few days, strengthening the ridge.
