- A trough lying across northern Cape York Peninsula is forecast to develop into the monsoon trough during today. Tropical Low 12U has formed along the trough in the Coral Sea, and will initially move eastwards before turning back towards the north Queensland coast later this week. To the south of the trough, a ridge from a high [1021 hPa] near New Zealand is leading to a surge in southeasterly winds over the next several days.
