A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over most of the state. The high will drift slowly northeast and gradually weaken before moving into the southern Coral Sea during today. A weak trough will briefly move offshore over the southern waters on Tuesday morning, before the coastal ridge strengthens again later that day.
