A ridge over northeastern Australia directs east to northeasterly winds over northern and eastern coastal waters. A trough will move across southern and central parts of the NT on Tuesday night with a strong ridge building behind the trough. This will send a southeasterly surge northwards through the Territory, with southeasterly winds developing over coastal waters from Thursday.
