Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across the east while a trough off the far north coast is deepening to a low pressure system. These systems will shift eastwards and head offshore today through Tuesday as a cold front approaches to the state from the south. The front will enter the far south coast late Tuesday and continue crossing the rest of the coastal waters through Wednesday, whipping strong to gale-force southerly winds along the coast and large powerful waves in its wake. Winds and surf conditions will gradually ease later in the week as the front is followed by a high pressure system drifting across the state.
