- A high [1036 hPa] moving into the Bight extends a ridge over the southern waters. The ridge will persist for several days, strengthening over the weekend as the high drifts slowly east. A weakening cold front will move off the northern New South Wales coast south of the Gold Coast waters on Saturday. A fresh to strong southerly airflow will extend over much of the southern waters over this weekend in the wake of the weather system and persist into early next week.
