Weather Situation

A low pressure trough and cold front over eastern coastal waters moves further east to clear Bass Strait by late evening. A high pressure system south of the Bight will then rapidly cross southern Victoria on Wednesday and be located over the Tasman Sea by Wednesday night. An easterly airstream will then develop across Bass Strait on Thursday as a broad low pressure trough develops over South Australia and then drifts over Victoria on Friday. An embedded low is forecast to develop in the trough early Saturday and move south over Tasmania by the afternoon. The associated trough and low will continue to move east into the Tasman Sea by late Saturday. The next high pressure system in the bight then builds a ridge east over Bass Strait on Sunday.
