- A cold front is clearing eastern Bass Strait into the Tasman Sea this evening, directing a strong westerly flow over Bass Strait. Behind it, a high pressure system over South Australia extends a ridge east over Victoria. The high is forecast to move very slowly east over NSW during coming days, directing generally northwesterly flow over the coastal waters, then eventually reaching the Tasman Sea on Saturday with the flow turning northerly.
