Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is directing a warm northerly airstream over Victoria as a low pressure trough approaches from the west. The trough is forecast to cross Victoria during today as a band of mid-level cloud crosses the Bight. The cloud band is expected to cross Bass Strait on Saturday as a strong high pressure system crosses the Southern Ocean. During Sunday the high is forecast to approach Tasmania with a ridge extending across Bass Strait. The high is then expected to move over the Tasman Sea on Monday with airflow tending east to northeasterly over coastal waters.
