A ridge of high pressure over the state will weaken ahead of a cold front expected to move over Bass Strait late Monday and early Tuesday. A new ridge of high pressure will extend across from the west on Tuesday and persist during Wednesday then the main high pressure centre will move eastwards across Tasmania on Thursday. A trough will move across the far west on Friday then over the remainder of the state on Saturday.
