A high pressure centre near the South Australian coast extends a ridge of high pressure to the west of Tasmania. The ridge slowly approaches Tasmania and is expected to cross during Thursday and Friday, bringing mostly settled weather to the state. The high is then forecast to move to the east of Tasmania later Friday as a cold front approaches from the west during Saturday.
