A gusty westerly airstream prevails over Tasmania, with a cold front embedded in the flow clearing to the east late, before a trough is expected to cross on Tuesday. A high pressure system will build over the mainland on Wednesday, extending a ridge over Tasmania late. The ridge will persist on Thursday, directing west to northwesterly flow over the state on Friday.
