A high pressure system slowly moves away to the east, extending a ridge over Tasmania. A northwesterly airstream will develop over the state on Friday, as a series of cold fronts slowly approach from the west. The first front is forecast to cross Tasmania late Saturday, with a fresh westerly flow to follow on Sunday, before a second cold front is expected on Monday.
