A ridge of high pressure extends across the state ahead of a cold front that is forecast to approach from the west early Tuesday, crossing the state during the afternoon. A weak ridge is expected to develop over southeastern parts of the mainland on Wednesday and move over northern parts of Tasmania on Thursday.
