Weather Situation

A near-stationary high lies over the Tasman Sea and extends a ridge over Tasmania and into the mainland. A weak cold front approaches Tasmania from the west today, crossing this evening and early Thursday. A warm northwesterly airstream will then prevail on Friday ahead of a cold front that approaches from the west. The front will slow down and weaken as it approaches the ridge of high pressure over Tasmania, and is expected to cross during Sunday.
