A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over Tasmania this evening. A northwesterly flow will then build during Wednesday, ahead of a cold front expected to cross the state overnight. The front brings a westerly flow which will persist over the state during Thursday and Friday. On Saturday a broad trough extends down from the mainland.
