A ridge of high pressure persists over Tasmania as the high centre slowly moves east this evening, to be over the Tasman Sea on Thursday and Friday. A northwesterly airstream will develop over the state later Friday, as a series of cold fronts slowly approach from the west. The first front is forecast to cross Tasmania later Saturday, with a westerly flow to follow on Sunday.
