A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea with a ridge extending into the east of the state. A weak trough over South Australian waters will continue moving through eastern waters tonight. A cold front will pass over the south during Friday afternoon with a southwesterly flow persisting through the weekend as a ridge of high pressure extends over northern parts of the state.
