A large high pressure system drifting slowly east across southern Australia is maintaining a ridge over the North Queensland waters. The ridge will persist for the next several days, as the high moves east and into the southern Tasman Sea from Tuesday. A weak trough will cross the central Queensland waters on Sunday.
