A trough lies off the NSW coast, bringing southwesterly winds to Sydney waters. The trough is set to move east over the Tasman Sea and in its wake a ridge will build over Sydney waters, resulting in winds strengthening through the day. This ridge will persist over Sydney waters through early next week before winds turn north to northwesterly ahead of a cold front set to cross coastal waters mid next week.
