Weather Situation

Southerly winds over Sydney Waters will turn east to northeasterly midweek ahead of a strong cold front that will cross Sydney Waters on Thursday. Fresh to strong westerly winds will follow in its wake, with potential gale force winds further south as the front enters the southwestern Tasman Sea and a low forms within it. Winds will then turn southerly and gradually ease later Friday through the weekend as these systems quickly head further offshore. Meanwhile, a strong high-pressure system will move over the Bight, extending a ridge over the coastal waters as it slowly drifts eastwards.
