- South to southwesterly as a trough lies north of Sydney Waters. Another trough over the northern inland is forecast to deepen to a low pressure system and traverses the northeast quarter of the state today, before entering the coastal waters of the Hunter or Mid North Coast on Friday and heading offshore during the weekend, with fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds over the Sydney Waters in its wake. A high pressure system will build over Queensland later on in the weekend, turning winds westerly over Sydney Waters.
