Weather Situation

A trough lies over the northern coastal waters, while a cold front is entering the south coast and heading north. The front is forecast to reach Sydney Waters late this evening, with a strong, gusty southerly change in its wake. The front will reach the far north coast during Wednesday morning then move to the Tasman Sea, deepening to a low pressure system well-offshore. Meanwhile, a high pressure system passing to the south of the state will extend a ridge across the coastal waters mid to late this week. Winds will turn northerly on Friday into Saturday ahead of the next trough that will reach the coastal waters during the weekend.
