A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea directs a north to northeasterly flow through the Sydney Waters. A cold front and trough will enter the Tasman Sea during the weekend, bringing a southerly change that will pass through the Sydney Waters on Saturday night. A high pressure centre will then move across Tasmania early next week, with winds over the NSW coast tending southeasterly in response.
