- A trough over central inland will remain near stationary for the next few days, while a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the state's northeast. Another trough is forecast to brush the south coast today before weakening. This trough will strengthen again during the weekend and head northward, reaching the Hunter Coast by Sunday before stalling as a second high pressure system enters the Tasman Sea. Meanwhile a tropical low pressure system over Queensland is forecast to extend a trough towards the state's far northeast during the weekend. These systems will bring increased showers or rain to the eastern areas during the weekend.
