A series of high pressure systems passing to the south of the state extends a ridge along New South Wales coast, maintaining an onshore east to northeasterly airstream. Then, a trough looks set to develop near the south coast later in the week and brushes Sydney Waters on Friday, bringing fresh to strong southeasterly winds in its wake.
