Weather Situation

A trough in the far north coast is weakening while a high pressure ridge over the state is receding to the Tasman Sea. Fresh on shore northeasterly winds are forecast to develop along the coast later today through Tuesday ahead of a series of strong cold fronts that looks set to cross the state from Tuesday onwards. The first front will cross the coastal waters between late Tuesday and Wednesday with a brief southwesterly wind change. This will be followed by the second front on Thursday and early Friday bringing a fresh to strong west to southwesterly wind change in its wake. Winds will gradually ease through the weekend as a large high pressure system drifts across the state.
