A strong high over the Great Australian Bight is working with a trough in far northern waters of New South Wales to extend strong to gale-force southerly winds and large powerful waves along the coast. The trough will move northwards into Queensland waters today, with winds and waves easing from Thursday on as the high moves across the state later in the week and into the weekend.
