A cold front and its associated trough are crossing northeastern areas of the state, bringing a fresh to strong, gusty southerly change to the north coast today before reaching the Queensland border early Wednesday. Southerly winds will then gradually turn easterly midweek as a strong high pressure system passes to the south of the state. The high will then enter the Tasman Sea later this week and become slow-moving, maintaining east to northeasterly winds through the weekend.
