Weather Situation

A high pressure system over Bass Strait extends a ridge into southern New South Wales today in the wake of a trough, and is directing fresh to strong southerly winds along the coast. This high is expected to reach the Tasman Sea during Sunday, maintaining a ridge over eastern parts of the state and bringing a northerly wind shift to most coastal areas through the day. A new trough and southerly change are forecast to affect southern waters during Monday, gradually extending through central areas on Tuesday as a low develops over the Tasman Sea, before stalling and decaying on Wednesday.
