Weather Situation

A high pressure ridge is extending across the coastal waters, directing northeasterly winds along much of the coast, while a trough brushing the far south is bringing a brief incursion of southerly winds to the far south coast today. Northerly winds will strengthen midweek as a high pressure system within the ridge drifts across the state and move into the Tasman Sea. Later, a cold front and its associated trough are forecast to move across the coastal waters from Friday through early Saturday, bringing a fresh and gusty southerly wind change in its wake.
