- A high pressure system is over the southern Tasman low lingers offshore over the Tasman Sea whipping fresh to strong southerly winds and large powerful waves along much of the coastline. Winds will generally turn east to northeasterly as the low moves eastwards and a ridge builds over the coastal waters from late Saturday. A trough off the southern half of the coast may develop early next week.
