South to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 30 knots offshore north of Norah Head early in the morning. Winds tending northwest to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots in the morning then tending south to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day.

Cloudy. 95% chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm during the morning and afternoon, with possible squalls north of Port Stephens during this afternoon and early evening.

Weather Situation

A cold front will bring a fresh to strong, gusty southerly change to the northeast half of the coast later today before continuing across the Queensland border early Wednesday. Southerly winds will then gradually turn easterly mid to late this week as a strong high pressure system passes to the south of the state. The high will then enter the Tasman Sea and become slow-moving, maintaining east to northeasterly winds through the weekend.
