West to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots turning southwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the evening. Winds reaching up to 30 knots south of Cape Byron in the late evening.

Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres later in the evening.

Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres inshore, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore north of Yamba.

Weather Situation

A strong cold front is forecast to cross the state today, with strong to gale-force west to southwesterly winds in its wake. Winds will then turn southerly and gradually ease from later Friday through the weekend as the front moves further offshore while a strong high-pressure system moves over the Bight and extends a ridge over the coastal waters. Winds will then become onshore easterly early next week as the high slowly drifts eastwards.
