Large and powerful waves and strong winds will gradually ease as a vigorous low pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea moves away to the east and a ridge of high pressure develops in its wake. Winds will tend southeast to northeasterly from Monday as the centre of the high reaches the Tasman Sea.
