- Northerly winds are strengthening ahead of a series of cold fronts that will cross the state mid to late this week. Winds will turn west to southwesterly on Friday following the passage of a strong cold front. A high pressure system over the Bight will then drift towards Tasmania while a low develops near New Zealand, bringing fresh to strong southerly winds and large, powerful waves to the coastal areas over the weekend and into early next week.
