Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore early in the morning. Winds turning southerly 10 to 15 knots in the evening.

Caution

Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing, particularly for south facing beaches.

Weather Situation

A trough associated with a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea is crossing the coastal waters, driving a fresh to strong southwesterly flow over the coastal waters. A strong high pressure system is forecast to drift across the state during the weekend turning the winds southeast to northeasterly. From early to mid next week, the high moves offshore and extends a ridge over the coastal waters, with winds tending east to northeasterly.
