Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots, tending southerly inshore north of Port Kembla. Winds shifting northeasterly 15 to 25 knots offshore and reaching up to 30 knots offshore north of Port Kembla in the evening.

1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore north of Point Perpendicular.

Southerly 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to around 1 metre later in the evening.

Surf conditions for the rest of the day may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea directs and east to northeasterly flow through the coastal waters. Winds will freshen and tend more north to northeasterly on Thursday and Friday as the high slips further to to the east. A cold front and trough will then enter the Tasman Sea, bring a southerly change which will gradually track northward through the weekend.
