A high pressure ridge extends across the central areas, maintaining a westerly airstream. A trough looks set to brush the coast today, bringing a southerly wind change. The winds then tend south to southwesterly along the northern coast and west to southwesterly along the southern coast during the weekend as the trough lingers along the northern coast.
