- A high pressure system in Bass Strait extends a ridge across the state, lingering as the high centre moves eastwards over the Tasman Sea. A trough is forecast to develop in the west by late Tuesday, expected to sweep across the state on Wednesday. Another high pressure ridge is expected to move in from the west late Wednesday, persisting on Thursday and Friday.
