- A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the state's northeast, maintaining fresh northeasterly airstream over Sydney Waters. A trough is forecast to brush the south coast today and weakens. This trough will strengthen again during the weekend and heads northward, crossing Sydney Waters late Saturday or early Sunday with a fresh southerly wind change in its wake, as a second high pressure system passing to the south enters the Tasman Sea.
