Tropical Cyclone Fina has intensified into a category four system off the Northern Territory's Top End, as it slowly moves south-west towards the north-east Kimberley coast.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says the destructive core of the cyclone is now located well off the west Top End coast.
It is expected to remain a category four cyclone during Sunday and Monday morning as it moves south-west, through the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf.
The BOM's latest update shows the cyclone has sustained winds of 165 kilometres per hour near its centre, with wind gusts up to 230 km/h.
