A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea, directs a light north to northwesterly flow over the state ahead of a slowly approaching trough. The trough will brush the southwest of the state late today, with a high pressure ridge from the east forecast to build over Tasmania on Thursday. The high is expected to maintain a ridge over Tasmania during Friday, before a low pressure trough over eastern Victoria slowly moves south, towards the east coast of Tasmania on Saturday. A cold front is expected to approach Tasmania from the west late Saturday.
